Saw Operator

Starting at $20.59 per hour. This position is eligible for a 90-day performance increase.

Rate after 90-days: $21.34 per hour.

 

Summary: Perform duties involving the sawing of raw materials and bar stock materials to specified sizes for further processing operations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

  • Work from bills of material, blueprints, sketches and instructions from supervision.
  • Determine stock needs and sawing procedures to utilize material with minimal drop loss.
  • Feed and remove material from saw manually or with crane and saw to size.
  • Direct machine operator in material handling and sawing functions.
  • Perform inspection of sawed pieces to maintain specified quality.
  • Service saw by changing dull or damaged saw blades, oiling, greasing and adjusting equipment.
  • Use forklift equipment and floor controlled overhead crane equipment as necessary to move parts and materials; use care to lift and balance loads properly; operate equipment in a safe manner.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Use powered shear, hand tools including hammer, wrenches, dividers, calipers, compass, tape measure, straight edge and rule.
  • Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials.

  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE: Use decimals, fractions and other ordinary arithmetic. Requires interpretation to adhere to requirements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Over 3 and up to 12 months of previous qualifying experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
