Chiptote Assembler – 2nd Shift
Summary: Perform duties involving the assembly of various chiptote conveyer units, motors, belts and related subassemblies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
- Work from bills of material, blueprints, sketches and instructions from supervision to determine assembly requirements.
- Select and measure parts.
- Perform assembly and alignment work on various chip tote conveyer systems and their components including pitches, side wings, belts, chains and sprockets, wipers and drive shafts, guards, ends and tail panels, and magnetic rollers and belts.
- Use grinder and sander to smooth rough parts, torch to burn and fit parts, impact wrench to tighten nuts and crane to handle heavy parts to and from work areas.
- Make simple layouts, drill and tap holes for assemblies.
- Grease and oil parts.
- Hook up wires, test run and inspect conveyer operation.
- Use floor controlled overhead crane equipment as necessary to move parts and materials; use care to lift and balance loads properly; operate equipment in a safe manner.
- Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials.
- Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.
- Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE: Use decimals, fractions and other ordinary shop arithmetic. Requires interpretation to adhere to requirements.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Over three and up to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
